A new resource for schools in Bedfordshire

 

The Culture Challenge aims to increase the number of young people accessing, enjoying and making great art and culture by providing clear details of cultural providers, and venues, in your local area. The website is both a ‘call-to-action’ and a directory and can be used by teachers, young people and parents.

 

Research identified by The Cultural Learning Alliance https://www.culturallearningalliance.org.uk/evidence/the-case-for-cultural-learning-key-research-findings/ shows that when young people engage with the arts, not only does their attainment across all areas improve, but their future prospects have the potential to improve too.

 

This is where The Culture Challenge comes in. Use the website to search for quality cultural and creative practitioners, and venues, who can work with you to provide a tailored experience for your students, which supports the school curriculum. The website also contains the challenge itself – a culture checklist that’s been developed in consultation with teachers, young people, and cultural and creative providers. It outlines 30 cultural experiences that all young people should have before they leave school. This checklist can be used by an individual learner, or as a simple audit or discussion tool within a class or year group. However it’s used, the aim is simple – to generate ideas for cultural activities and an appetite for doing more.
